Freiheyt and Gerechtigkeyt 1525 – 500 Years Peasants' War in Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt

In memory of the Peasants' War of 1525 and Thomas Müntzer, Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt offer numerous events at authentic locations, on streets, squares, stages and in nature. Experience history at first hand and be inspired by the fight for freedom and justice.

Co-operative exhibition: 1525 - Peasants' War in the Henneberg region

On closer inspection, the great German Peasants' War of 1525 consisted of a number of regional peasant wars. In Thuringia, the focal points were in the north - associated with the names Thomas Müntzer, Mühlhausen and Frankenhausen - and in the south-west - the Henneberger Land, which belonged to the Franconian Imperial District and is now part of the Free States of Thuringia and Bavaria.
